The Portuguese Canadian Seniors Foundation is having a Festa das Beiras to celebrate the Beiras region (province).  “It borders the North with the Douro Litoral , the East with Beira Alta and Beira Baixa, the Southeast with Ribatejo, the Southwest with Estremadura and the West with the Atlantic Ocean.  It is made up of 38 municipalities, comprising most of the districts of Aveiro and Coimbra, half of the district of Leiria, and a municipality of the district of Santarém. It had its headquarters in the city of Coimbra.” (Source: Wikipedia) Continue reading “Festa das Beiras at PCSF”

A Gift of Jules

This fundraising event – ‘A Gift of Jules’  – is to help Julianne Morgadinho and her family raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. Childhood cancer is not like the cancers that affect adults. Children’s bodies are a lot smaller and the side effects of chemotherapy are a lot more dangerous. Sadly the funding for childhood cancer is not as much as it should be, less than 4%.  Continue reading “Childhood Cancer Fundraiser – ‘A Gift of Jules’”
