Donate to the Warm Clothing Collection

Now until November 5th, the Knights of Columbus are running their Warm Clothing Collection for the Catholic Charity The Door is Open. Over the next week and a half, the Knights of Columbus will be collecting warm, clean clothing such as coats, socks, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and long or short underwear. Donations can be dropped off at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish located at 1423 East 13th Avenue in Vancouver.

Since 2009 the Knights of Columbus have distributed over 400,000 coats in communities throughout North America, helping those meet their basic essential needs of warmth, protection and comfort. Your unconditional generosity is amazing. In the last two years, they have donated almost 2,000 pounds of clothing.  They have placed boxes at the entrance to the Church for collecting your donations.

Take a moment to think about the men, women, and children in our Vancouver community who go without a warm coat in the winter. Think about others while their fingers and toes are bitten by the cold. A moment of your valuable time, to think about those who have very little to keep comfort and protect themselves against the wet, cold-to-your-bones rain and blowing winds.

Pope Francis reminds all that “true charity requires courage: let us overcome the fear of getting our hands dirty so as to help those in need.”

With the weather changing, getting colder and wetter, please donate any items which you do not need or no longer use, and donate them to those who have less, who have none and are without.
