Portuguese Things To Do
June 2026

June is a special month for Portuguese communities here in British Columbia. It is recognized as Portuguese Heritage Month, a time to celebrate our rich history, culture, traditions, and contributions. Throughout the month, our community comes together to host a variety of events that honour Portuguese heritage and showcase the vibrant spirit of our culture.

One of the most significant dates during Portuguese Heritage Month is June 10th – Portugal Day, officially known as Portugal, Camões, and Portuguese Communities Day (Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas). This day commemorates the death of Portugal’s beloved poet, Luís de Camões, in 1580 and has become a national day of pride and celebration for Portuguese people around the world including right here in British Columbia.

To help you make the most of the month, I’ve compiled a list of Portuguese Things To Do In June, featuring Portugal Day celebrations, cultural events, community gatherings, and more. Whether you’re looking to connect with your roots, support local Portuguese organizations, or simply enjoy the food, music, and traditions that make our culture so special, there’s something for everyone.

I’ll be updating the list as new events arise, so be sure to check back often for the latest additions. And don’t forget to explore the recurring events as well. They are the backbone of keeping our community connected year-round.

If you’re already planning ahead, take a look at what’s coming up this summer too. There’s always something happening in our Portuguese community!

Happy Portuguese Heritage Month, and Feliz Dia de Portugal! 🇵🇹
