Feliz Ano Novo! Happy New Year! It’s a new year and a fresh (even if short!) list of Portuguese Things to Do for January. I’ll be adding new happenings as they pop up, so check back often for updates.

RECURRING EVENTS:

MONDAYS – SATURDAYS: 

Luso Canadian Association – Located in Kitimat, they are open from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm from Monday to Saturday.

FRIDAYS:

Luso Canadian Association – Located in Kitimat, they serve dinner every Friday night in their Luso Lounge. Reservations are required.

Portuguese Cultural Centre of BC – Located in Burnaby,  they have been serving a delicious hot lunch every Friday for years now. There are also games and sports on their many TVs. All are welcome to attend.

SUNDAYS:

Luso Canadian Portuguese Club – Located in Penticton, their doors are open every Sunday at 2:00 pm . Note that due to renovations, they are currently not serving dinner, but will have drinks and pastéis de nata available. They also have board games for all ages to enjoy. They will need

Portuguese Canadian Cultural Society of Osoyoos – Open every Sunday (except for stat holidays) from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. They offer bifanas, cerveja, and tremoços. All are welcome.

JANUARY 6 – JANUARY 8, 2026 – 2026 Portuguese Presidential Election | Early Voting for Voters Displaced Abroad can vote at the Consulate General of Portugal in Vancouver.

JANUARY 9, 2026 – The weekly Friday lunches resume at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Burnaby.

JANUARY 17, 2026 – Hora do conto | Portuguese Storytime at the Burnaby Public Library.

JANUARY 17 & 18, 2026 – 2026 Portuguese Presidential Election for Voters Displaced Abroad can vote at the Consulate General of Portugal in Vancouver.

JANUARY 18, 2026 – The Portuguese Canadian Cultural Society of Osoyoos is holding their Annual General Meeting.

JANUARY 21 – FEBRUARY 8, 2026 – Dine Out Vancouver Celebrate the flavours of delicious Portuguese cuisine at the Portuguese Club of Vancouver.

JANUARY 25, 2026 – Enjoy a delicious Pancake Breakfast at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver.

December 2025

As the year winds down, the holiday festivities are kicking into high gear. From Christmas breakfasts and lunches to New Year’s Eve dinners—and plenty of events in between honouring Portuguese artists and entertainers—there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate. For more information, take a look at my list of Portuguese Things to Do in December below. I’ll continue adding new events, so check back regularly for the latest updates!

RECURRING EVENTS:

MONDAYS – SATURDAYS: 

Luso Canadian Association – Located in Kitimat, they are open from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm from Monday to Saturday.

FRIDAYS:

Portuguese Cultural Centre of BC – Located in Burnaby,  they have been serving a delicious hot lunch every Friday for years now. There are also games and sports on their many TVs. All are welcome to attend.

Portuguese Club of Vancouver – On Fridays, they will be offering a Bifana with Fries and a draft beer for the special price of $15.00

Portuguese Club of Vancouver – On Saturdays, they will be offering “Polvo a Lagareiro” with a draft beer for $24.00

NEW EVENTS – MARK YOUR CALENDARS

DECEMBER 1 – December 9, 2025 – Continuing from the previous month, an initiative of Cinematheque, with the support of the Consulate General of Portugal in Vancouver and Camões, I.P. – Institute of Cooperation and Language, you can now watch in Vancouver a selection of director João César Monteiro most acclaimed films!

DECEMBER 5, 6 & 7, 2025 – The Consul General of Portugal will be in Calgary to offer their services.

DECEMBER 6, 2025 – A Cultural Showcase Event titled, “Between Seas and Prairies: Celebrating Luso Culture in Alberta” will be held at the Portuguese Society of Calgary. This event is sponsored by the Consul General of Portugal, the Portuguese Society of Calgary, and the Camoes Institute.

DECEMBER 6, 2025 – The Luso Canadian Portuguese Club of Penticton is celebrating its 42nd anniversary! Parabéns! 🥳

DECEMBER 6, 2025 – The Portuguese Community in Kamloops is hosting a Portuguese Christmas Party.

DECEMBER 6, 2025 – Almoço de Natal da Terceira Idade – Seniors Christmas Lunch at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Burnaby.

DECEMBER 7, 2025 – Almoço de Natal da Terceira Idade – Seniors Christmas Lunch at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Burnaby.

DECEMBER 7, 2025 – St. Nicholas Pancake Breakfast at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver.

DECEMBER 13, 2025 – The Rancho Folclórico Cruz De Cristo’s Annual Christmas Party will be at the Scottish Cultural Centre in Vancouver.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – December 13, 2025 – Parish Children’s Christmas Party at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Victoria.

DECEMBER 14, 2025 – Breakfast with Santa Claus – Pequeno-almoço com o Pai Natal at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Burnaby.

DECEMBER 31, 2025 – Gala de Réveillon – New Year’s Eve Gala at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Burnaby.

DECEMBER 31, 2025 – New Year’s Eve Event at the Luso Canadian Association in Kitimat.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – December 31, 2025 – New Year’s Eve with the Portuguese Rod & Gun Club at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – December 31, 2025 – New Year’s Eve Party at the Portuguese Canadian Cultural Society of Osoyoos.

The weather may be cooling down, but the events are heating up. This month, there are more festas, dinners and dances. Below is my list of Portuguese Things to Do for November. I’ll keep updating it with new happenings, so be sure to check back often for the latest updates!

NOVEMBER 1, 2025 – Organized by the Consulate General of Portugal  in Vancouver and EUNIC Canada-Vancouver. In November, the EU BOOK CLUB will focus on the novel “The Hair ” by Djaimilia Pereira De Almeida. The book club will take place in person at Alliance Française Vancouver.

NOVEMBER 2, 2025 – Every Sunday, the Luso Canadian Portuguese Club in Penticton opens its doors to serve delicious Portuguese food.

NOVEMBER 8, 2025 – Festa de Portugal hosted by the Luso Portuguese Club of Prince Rupert.

NOVEMBER 9, 2025 – Annual Chestnut Roast at the Portuguese Cultural Society of Osoyoos.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – NOVEMBER 9, 2025 – Annual Sardine Day at the Portuguese Club of Vancouver.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – NOVEMBER 15, 2025 – Portugal’s featured film at this year’s EUFF is “Savanna and the Mountain,” by Paulo Carneiro. You can watch it at The Cinematheque.

NOVEMBER 15, 2025 – Sao Martinho Dinner & Dance at the Portuguese Cultural Centre of BC in Burnaby.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – NOVEMBER 17, 2025 – Family Christmas Craft Night at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – NOVEMBER 22 & 23, 2025 – The Consul General of Portugal will be in Prince George to offer their services.

NEW EVENT ADDED! – NOVEMBER 23, 2025 – Christmas Lunch hosted by the Portuguese Cultural Society of Prince George.
