Festa do Ribatejo – Dinner & Dance Fundraiser
The Portuguese Canadian Seniors Foundation is having a Festa do Ribatejo. This is a dinner and dance fundraiser. Doors open at 5:00 pm, dinner is served at 7:00 pm and the dance starts at 9:00 pm. Ribatejo means “Above the Tejo”
Formerly a province until 1976, the Ribatejo was the only province that doesn’t border Spain and has no coastline. The region is crossed by the Tagus River and contains some of the nation’s richest agricultural land. It produces most of the animals used in the Portuguese style of bullfighting, and also most of Portugal’s fighters are from here especially from in or around the capital, Santarém.
