A Gift of Jules

This fundraising event – ‘A Gift of Jules’  – is to help Julianne Morgadinho and her family raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. Childhood cancer is not like the cancers that affect adults. Children’s bodies are a lot smaller and the side effects of chemotherapy are a lot more dangerous. Sadly the funding for childhood cancer is not as much as it should be, less than 4%. 

‘A Gift of Jules’ is being organized by Julianne’s family who is a part of our Portuguese community. You can help support their fundraising goal by purchasing a ticket to attend their event and/or donate to their fundraising page – A Gift of Jules Rockin’ to Cure Childhood Cancer – which is hosted on the BC Children’s Hospital’s website. Every penny that is raised will be donated to the BC Children’s Hospital Oncology Department.

Background:

The journey that Julianne has gone through is more than any child should experience in a young life. She has gone from free loving to being so sick and crying in pain. To losing her hair and coming back from it all. Childhood cancer is affecting thousands of kids across BC.  Cancer is a terrible disease and the chemotherapy that is used to treat cancer is even worse. The effects chemotherapy has on a young body will have lasting side effects for the rest of their lives.

The goal and mission of this event are to raise money and help kids like Julianne not have to go through this…ever. Can you imagine a world without cancer?  Cancer has taken too many good people and continues to affect too many families.

November represents the end of Julianne’s treatment. Her strength and the challenges that Julianne has faced over the past 2 years continues to inspire those around her. Her smile and spirit cannot be crushed. Cancer picked the wrong kid to mess with. Julianne along with her army of supporters will continue to fight this battle against cancer until it no longer exists. Every penny that is raised will be donated to BC Children’s Hospital Oncology Department. Join the battle and help raise funds and awareness.
